Kitchen replacement bulbs
Only replace your kitchen bulbs with Sylvania 'Cool Fit' bulbs (GX5.3 Aluminium) that have a maximum wattage of 50W. These are low-voltage bulbs that will not burn out quickly or overheat the kitchen lamps (and cause burn-out). Purchase these from Ryness for around £4.
Put your rubbish in the wheelie bins!
A handful of residents are putting the rest of us at risk for disease and infestation. It's not enough to put your rubbish bags inside the gate: you must put bags inside the wheelie bins provided. Being next to the canal means we are already a target for rats. Plus, the credit crunch means councils have less to spend on pest control. We need you to be vigilant about picking up rubbish!

Please help us to re-plant around the memorial
Residents are invited on Saturday, 15-May to replant the garden area immediately around the memorial. It would be wonderful if you could help anytime between 10.30am - 1.00pm to improve the landscaping. We would like to remove the dead lavender plants and put in new plants where needed. Please feel free to join our efforts.
Monday, 26 April 2010
Please join us in planting wildflowers
Please join us this Saturday, 1-May (from 11am - 1pm) to create a canal-side wildflower garden where the loch adjoins onto Grand Union Place. Residents are kindly requested to bring whatever gardening tools they have to dig-up the soil and plant wildflower seeds. Feel free to simply keep us company or watch...it's about the community being together and taking care of our neighbourhood. We hope to see you there!

Neighbourhood Watch, Meeting Highlights (2-Mar)
If you have any comments or suggestions on how to deter the expected anti-social behaviour in warmer months, please feel free to submit it to the Safer Neighbourhoods Team (SNT).
The next Neighbourhood Watch meeting will be held on Wednesday, 28 April at 7.30pm at LIFRA Hall.
- PC Mick May, who conducted the walk around Grand Union Place, will be delivering his report on how we could potentially improve security on our estate as soon as it is ready.
- Watch out for people tailgating you; make sure the doors are closed behind you at all times. Do not allow people into the building if you don't know them.
- There will be an increased police presence, thanks in part to the 78% majority vote for targeting policing operations achieved at the You Decide event in early February.
- SNT will include more morning patrols. SNT conducted some early morning patrols and stopped some kids loitering in Candle Street junction with Harford Street.
- The SNT will let us know about Danger Awareness courses available to us from the Home Office. These will recommence sometime in April.

Safer Neighbourhoods Team
Help the Safer Neighbourhoods Team by reporting any problems, no matter how small, so that they can take action. If more residents report these abuses, then we'll receive more "top priority" policing. Don't suffer in silence. Call 020 8721 2808. You can leave a message and this will be forwarded to patrolling officers (except when they are not on duty patrol).
For non-emergencies, or to report a crime which has already taken place, call 0300 123 1212 (Non-Urgent Police). In an emergency always dial 999.
