Help Save The Whitehorse Adventure Playground From Closure
The Whitehorse Adventure Playground on White Horse Road (London E1, opposite St Dunstan's Church) is threatened with closure which has been opened for 40 years. All play workers have been told they will be losing their jobs and the centre will be closed down in March. The location will be replaced by a park area which will not have any support staff.
This is a great resource for a deprived area and helps keeping young people aged up to 16 active and learning.
If you would like to help prevent this place from closure, join a Facebook group at " Save the Whitehorse Adventue Playground in Tower Hamlets".

Keeping our communal areas clear
From September onwards, East Thames will remove any items left or stored in communal areas without notice. This is to ensure communal areas are always kept clear for health and safety reason.
East Thames will store the removed items for a maximum of 28 days and if you don't claim it within this time, they will be disposed. Furthermore, an administration fee will be charged on any goods you recover.
If the owner of removed items cannot be identified, residents within the block will be charged collectively through the service charges for any removal and storage costs incurred.

Message from East Homes
Harford Street Community Centre (Mercer Court)
Fit out works to the Harford Street Community Centre is nearing completion. There have been a few delays and the works have taken slightly longer than originally planned. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by contractor's vehicles and noise from the building works. Once complete the building will provide a valuable resource for residents and the local community, with a new community centre, a new health and wellbeing centre, and a new permanent office for some East Thames staff to enable you to have direct access to services.
The contractors working on site are Durkan Limited & Dovehouse. Durkan are working on the community resource part of the building and Dovehouse are working on behalf of the Primary Care Trust. If you have any issues regarding any of the contractors please contact your Neighbourhood Manager.

Wildflower Planting with Barclaycard - Updates
The plot in-between canal and Jonson Lock Court has been transformed, and thanks to British Waterways, Barclaycard volunteers, and also a few of our own residents!
They even went that extra mile by collecting floating litter to maintain the refurbished floating rafts, cut back some vegetation to keep the towpath clear for cyclists and painted part of Johnson’s lock.
Thank you!

Neighbourhood Watch meeting
There will be a meeting of the Neighbourhood Watch this Thursday at 7.30-8.30pm at LIFRA Hall (7 Halley Street, E14 7SS). One of the reasons for this meeting is to introduce you to PC Sarah Morris, who succeeds PC Helen Bentley as head of our local Safer Neighbourhood Team in Grand Union Place. It will also be a great opportunity for the SNT to update residents on how the Spending Review will affect security in the area. This meeting is open to all residents. You'll be able to put across your concerns and/or suggestions to the Safer Neighbourhood Team in attendance.

Annual General Meeting: 12.30pm on Sat, 19-Mar
Thank you for helping us to select a date for our Annual General Meeting. After counting all your votes, it was clear that Saturday is the preferred day for most residents. It gives us great pleasure to invite you to our meeting next month:
Saturday, 19th March at 12.30pm
LIFRA Hall, 7 Halley St E14 7SS
Please note the later time of 12.30pm. This is because the hall is occupied for another group until noon, and we need time to set up. At this year-in-review presentation, we'll show you what we've accomplished in 2010. Plus it’s your chance to join us in improving Grand Union Place for 2011 and beyond. Please note that you must attend the AGM in order to be nominated or vote for the new committee.
Remember, this is your chance to:
- Share ideas on future improvements
- Arrange social events and outings
- Get more involved in your community!
We look forward to seeing you all there.

- Saturday, 19th March from 12 noon
- Tuesday, 22nd March from 7pm
